Job Summary:

Provides daily operations support and maintenance for network systems (including wireless). Proactively monitors and analyzes networks to provide stable, dependable network services. Configures and troubleshoots computer networks carrying out incident management processes including monitoring, ticketing, notification, tier 1 problem analysis, tracking, and resolution. Assists in maintaining LAN/WAN/wireless operations by working with network engineers to ensure timely problem resolution. Utilizes network management applications to identify network faults. Administers SUNY Upstate Real Time Location Services such as Aeroscout by providing and maintaining tags, creating and generating reports and monitoring RTLS system health.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree and 4 years of network technician or equal amount of work experience as a network technician or equivalent. Ability to install rack mounted network appliances and wireless access points. Ability to listen and communicate information effectively with a diverse client and vendor base and deliver customer support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to fusion splice fiber. Experience working with CISCO IOS and/or CISCO IOSXE. Experience with TIA-568A & B cabling standards.

Work Days:

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Weekdays - Some off hours for projects / support
