Job Summary:

The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through Education, Biomedical Research, and Health Care.  Beyond our downtown campus, we provide care through our clinics and offices across the greater Syracuse area.

 In support of our growth, we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Neurocritical Care Advanced Practice Provider will serve in a full-time role to provide care to patients in the Neurocritical Care Unit at the SUNY Upstate Downtown campus.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Providing expert level clinical care & coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care
  • Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team.

As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
  • Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice. 
  • NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
  • CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Neurology and Critical Care experience preferred.   

Work Days:

Full-time, Days, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays, 12-hour shifts
