Upstate Community Medical, PC is seeking an experienced and motivated OB/GYN Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join our inpatient obstetrics and gynecology team at Upstate Community Hospital. The hospital is part of Upstate University Hospital (UUH), a large academic hospital in Syracuse, NY. This position offers an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered inpatient care while collaborating closely with residents, advanced practice providers (Certified Nurse Midwives, PAs and NPs), nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.

This hospital-based position focuses on the management of labor and delivery, obstetrical triage, postpartum care, and inpatient gynecologic care, with an emphasis on safety, teamwork, and evidence-based medicine.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct inpatient obstetric care, including management of labor, deliveries, and postpartum care.
  • Manage obstetrical triage evaluations and admissions.
  • Perform vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and also obstetric procedures, as needed.
  • Respond to obstetrical emergencies.
  • Provide inpatient gynecological consultations and care.
  • Collaborate with OBGYN providers, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Educate and counsel patients regarding women’s health, contraception, pregnancy and wellness.
  • Promote a culture of safety through communication with all team members.
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently in EPIC.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for residents, students and nursing staff and supports the academic mission of UUH.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • NYS license
  • Current OBGYN experience required
