Job Summary:
The Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), provides senior-level clerical support to providers and professional staff within the Adult Hematology/Oncology department. This position works independently to prepare medical records daily to provide physicians with the most up to date patient data at the time of visit within Epic & Chartmax, obtain and organizes vital patient information from all sources such as physician offices, radiology & pathology and performs release of information duties which include forwarding copies of transcription to community providers, patients, insurance companies and others as needed. Prepares death certificates for providers using the state EDRS system, maintains department fax machine service including moving patient results into Epic Charts, Review patient FLMA and disability forms for accuracy, scans all patient information into EMR, and downloads patient CDs into Synapse. Assists with elective admissions and the authorization process. May assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for the medical records manual. Answers calls and routine questions pertaining to medical records.
Minimum Qualifications:

Promotional:
Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher. Or
Open competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:
One year of clerical experience where majority of work time is spent performing keyboarding, data entry, chart compilation or arrangement or various tasks involving typing into computerized systems.
*Candidates will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates the ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.
Work Days
Schedule based on a 40 hour work week. Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

NY HELPS appointments may be temporary pending commissioner approval or permanent based on candidate eligibility.
Salary: SG09, $41,399
