Job Summary:

The Patient Access Associate ensures smooth patient flow and accurate registration for all services provided at Community, including inpatient admissions, ambulatory clinic registration, laboratory, radiology, infusion, and other procedural services. Responsible for interviewing patients to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information necessary to complete the registration process.
 
Determines if patients require a cost estimate based on current CMS No Surprises Act requirements and educates patients regarding estimated out-of-pocket expenses. Collects copayments, offers payment plans and financial assistance options, and assists with point-of-service collections. Monitors registration work queues, performs quality review activities, and provides operational support to ensure registration accuracy and compliance.
 
Serves as a liaison between patients and internal departments to facilitate efficient communication and exceptional customer service. Assists with the onboarding, training, and mentoring of new staff by providing guidance on registration processes, policies, and workflows. Serve as a resource for staff and support operational needs across various Patient Access functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and two (2) years of related patient financial, insurance, or registration experience in a healthcare setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and medical billing.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.

*Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) required within two years of hire*

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ability to work with a diverse patient population.
  • Efficient keyboarding skills.

Work Days:

Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with 5:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. availability, as needed to support departmental operations
