Job Summary:
Prospective applicants must have a PhD in Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, Immunology, or a related field and experience. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team in the Brain Tumor Laboratory and Biorepository at SUNY Upstate Medical University, pursuing various basic-science, translational, or pre-clinical projects focused on brain cancer research. Areas of study include tumor microenvironment, extracellular matrix, cancer neuroscience, organoid biology, tumor immunology, molecular pathology, and experimental therapies, among others. Duties include but are not limited to: molecular profiling of cells and tissues, culture of cells and organoids, surgical and genetically engineered animal models of cancer, analysis of patient populations and tumor biomarkers, computational analysis of genomic datasets, preparation of manuscripts, communications to scientific meetings, and grant applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, Immunology, or a similar field. Candidates must have a strong STEM background, with prior connection to, or interest in, cancer research. Candidates must demonstrate a productive record of research aligned with their career stage, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently, and skills to guide and supervise students and other laboratory members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have proficiency in standard methods and techniques utilized in cancer biology laboratories, such as microscopy, cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology and genomics, protein analysis, or animal models of cancer, among others. Experience in cancer genomics/bioinformatics, development of organoid models, tumor/brain interfaces, or studies of cancer biomarkers is highly desirable.
