Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide high quality professional Psychiatric Care to patients in an outpatient setting here at SUNY Upstate Medical through the Research Foundation. Looking for a experience candidates or one who is willing to be trained in the assessment and treatment of outpatient psychiatric patients.
Services will include but not limited to:
- Initial diagnostic assessments of patients via secure system.
- Initiation and modification of psychopharmacological treatment via secure system.
- Crisis assessments and safety planning.
- Provide treatment recommendations based on clinical assessment,
- Provide medication management, individual psychotherapy,
- Clinical documentation according to legal and ethical standards.
- Assist with program management. Creation of documentation for clinical care and program management
- Participate in department administrative activities, Psychiatry staff meetings.
- Represent Psychiatry on University committees.
- Professional development via Grand Rounds, CE activities, etc.
- Provide outreach and preventative programming to patients in the Upstate community.
Must be a strong communicator, caring for patients, families and the community through assessment, planning, prescribing and evaluation interventions. An NP is a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team who demonstrates professionalism and leadership within the institution and exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry.
NYS licensed/registered NP required.
Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required.
Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Psychiatry experience is a plus.
