Job Summary:

Functions as Quality/Safety Officer, Department of Pathology. Reporting to the Technical Director, this position oversees the development and optimization of all aspects of quality, lab audits, safety audits, process improvement, and Lean Six Sigma implementation and maintenance for the Pathology Department. The position provides leadership and guidance in the planning, tracking, and execution of quality and improvement projects across the department. In addition, responsibilities include: Generating the annual quality plan with the Medical Director/QA officer. Generating a continuous laboratory quality improvement plan with the administrator. Designing audits and tools to capture audit data. Coordinating inspection and accreditation activities. Maintain NYSDO permit information as it relates to proficiency testing, monitoring ongoing progress related to action plans, and coordinating completion of the NYSDOH Laboratory Evaluation Report. Coordinating responses to the Safety Intelligence and ECRI Safety/Recall Systems. Compiling and reporting quality activities and gaps to the Departmental Quality Assurance Committee. Coach laboratory supervisors and managers on Lean Methodologies. Annual review of the QA and Safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS license to practice in a Clinical Laboratory required. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field and at least 5 years of licensed technologist laboratory experience. Familiarity with Lean/ Six Sigma, PDSA, and project management. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Specific visual requirements include use of both eyes, depth perception, and ability to distinguish colors and shades of colors.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control preferred. Master's degree preferred. Lean/Six Sigma certification

Work Days: 

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
