Job Summary:

The candidate selected for this Recreation Therapist position will provide recreation programs to patients on the Nursing - Psychiatry Unit. Working within a multi-disciplinary treatment team, responsibilities include: maintaining structured, daily programs and group therapies; monitor and report patient participation and progress; organize monthly activity plans, and participate in treatment planning meetings. Provide education and training to Mental Health Workers for activity plans, and participate in treatment planning meetings. Provide education and training to Mental Health Workers for group therapy and recreational therapy. Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and crisis management skills are necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field and one year of professional recreation experience in a therapeutic, instructional or rehabilitation setting. Certified Therapeutic Rec Specialist (issued by NCTRC) required.

Work Days:

Day shift; weekends as needed.
