Job Summary:

The Research Scientist / Lab Manager is a PhD-level research support position responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in advancing a research program focused on brain repair and neurological diseases. This role combines hands-on experimental research with laboratory management and administrative coordination. The incumbent will perform complex experiments, analyze data, and contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant applications under the direction of the PI. In addition, the individual will assist the PI in overseeing daily laboratory operations, maintaining organization across multiple projects, and training students and junior researchers. This position supports the overall productivity and efficiency of the PI's research program.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field
Demonstrated experience in experimental design, data collection, and analysis
Experience contributing to scientific writing (e.g., manuscripts or reports)
Experience training or mentoring students and/or research staff
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience (approximately 3-5 years preferred)
Experience supporting grant preparation and related documentation
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., qRT-PCR, Western blot)
Experience with rodent models, including brain anatomy and transgenic colony management
Experience with rodent surgical procedures, including models of traumatic brain injury (TBI) stroke, and cranial window preparation for in vivo imaging (e.g., two-photon microscopy)

Work Days:

Varies depending upon experiments.
