Job Summary:

This is a temporary grant funded position until 12/31/2024. This position will provide research support for a laboratory in mammalian visual neurobiology in a neurosurgical department. Duties include preparations for animal surgery, post-op care and clean-up, histological processing, ongoing animal care, extensive record keeping, basic data analysis and assistance in conducting surgical procedures and recording sessions. Additional responsibilities include development and maintenance of research protocols and certifications, general laboratory management, ordering supplies, assisting neighboring labs with similar research activities and the training of students. Histological processing will include tissue sectioning and mounting, running histochemical reactions, and some subsequent microscopy and histological reconstruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Biology or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with mixing chemical solutions, histological procedures, computer usage, animal handling and biological research.

Work Days:

Monday -Friday 8-430
