Job Summary:
Dr. Marie Bechler's lab is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Support Specialist to join her NIH-funded research team studying myelin sheath formation in the central nervous system. This is an opportunity to contribute to impactful biomedical research within a collaborative and supportive lab environment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform and support a variety of research tasks, including experimentation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI).
Document and report experimental procedures and results clearly and accurately.
Assist in training lab members in experimental procedures and safety practices.
Support daily lab operations, including maintaining organization, inventory, and equipment, compliance with safety protocols, as well as handling of chemicals and biohazards.
Obtain quotes and place orders for lab supplies; manage incoming inventory.
Experimental techniques may include neurobiology and cell biology methods, such as:
primary cell culture,
CNS tissue sectioning,
rodent surgery,
immunofluorescence,
western blotting,
RNA analysis (e.g., RNA Seq), and
advanced imaging techniques (e.g., confocal and electron microscopy)
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Bioengineering or in a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 6 months experience in a basic science laboratory (wet lab) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Days:
Monday-Friday, days with occasional evening or weekend hours.
