Job Summary:

The Senior Admissions Coordinator plays a key role in the patient financial experience by coordinating insurance and benefits verification, pre-certification, pre-authorization, offering financial counseling, contacting the Utilization Review department for concurrent review, researching patient copay/deductible/out of pocket expense and collecting from payments while the patient is in-house or upon discharge. Additional responsibilities include leading and developing training for new staff members, providing supervision in the absence of leadership, working with the patient flow coordinator to follow up on bed placement activity, bed transfer and discharge of inpatients. Answer a large volume of telephone inquiries regarding inpatient admissions and from insurance companies. Interacts with all levels of clinical staff regarding the patient activity. Ensures clinical physician order entry are correct based on how the patient was scheduled. Responsible for overseeing the paperwork for in-house expirations and working with physicians to obtain a signature on the electronic death certificate. Will be responsible for securing & releasing patient valuables. Also responsible for researching & collecting patients' financial responsibilities in person or with patients via phone.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree and 3 years of relevant experience (preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting) or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent communication skills and ability to handle multiple priorities required. Must obtain CHAA certification required within two years of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience with hospital patient benefits and authorization requirements for Admissions preferred. Possesses the ability to mentor others and efficient time management skills.

Work Days:

Mon-Fri with some weekend coverage
