Job Summary:
The Senior Outpatient Administrative Specialist (OAS) performs OAS duties based on the operational needs of the department. Serves as a role model, mentor and preceptor for new and existing staff. Assists and supports the management team with daily operations related to staffing, workload and resource management. Models effective communication and promotes cooperative behaviors. Drives customer service, patient experience, assists with monthly reporting and provider templates. The Senior OAS exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree and three (3) years relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Working knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing/insurance requirements, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills required. Computer skills and keyboarding are necessary. Ability to maintain good public relations with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other individuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in an Ambulatory healthcare setting.
