Job Summary:
This Senior Pharmacist would predominantly work and provide supervisory oversight for the overnight shift at Upstate University Hospital’s Downtown Campus, joining a team of overnight pharmacists and technicians. As a Senior Pharmacist, this individual would be responsible for the direct supervision of pharmacy staff. This individual would also be required to conduct and oversee administrative activities including, but not limited to, quality improvement projects, policy development, and human resources management. Overnight pharmacists at Upstate work a modified 7 on / 7 off schedule and enjoy a 20% differential for overnight shifts. Overnight pharmacists may perform remote order verification and/or support for our Community Campus during overnight shifts. This pharmacist will practice within a progressive pharmacy model at Upstate University Hospital. Applicants will join a talented team of pharmacy personnel to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical care. Pharmacists at Upstate participate in all aspects of care, including clinical patient monitoring, sterile product preparation/oversight, medication distribution, transitions of care management, and patient counseling/education. Job duties for the position include but are not limited to: Interpretation of medication orders and prescriptions to ensure they are complete, safe, rational, and compatible with institutional policy. Pharmacists have responsibility for preparing compounds and dispensing medications for inpatient and ambulatory care use. This includes the preparation of injectable sterile products and non-sterile compounds. Pharmacists may be responsible for performing duties in various practice locations, including inpatient, emergency departments, ambulatory care clinics, and transitions of care settings. Pharmacists at Upstate are expected to provide information to health care practitioners to promote the safe and rational use of medications. Furthermore, pharmacists shall provide drug monitoring services, maintain pharmacy records according to law and institutional policy, interprets policy and procedures for hospital staff, participate in teaching programs for the department and hospital staff, and participate in the department’s quality assurance programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D and NYS Pharmacist license and registration (or eligible) required. A minimum of 5-years of pharmacy experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous hospital experience preferred. Previous supervisory experience.
Work Days:
Rotating Shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends & Holidays (Predominantly overnight shifts)
