Job Summary:

In this position, the Social Worker will provide support and work coverage in the Emergency Department for both pediatric and adult patients, at both Upstate Inpatient Hospitals, providing coverage to the entire campus during daytime, evening, overnight hours and weekend coverage and support continued efforts with throughput and LOS. The Social Worker provides comprehensive psycho-social assessment, management and support to at risk patients and families. In addition, the social worker addresses social determinants of health and works closely with the multidisciplinary team to support the needs of the patients and families. Through the use of a wide range of interventions and treatment modalities, the Social Worker contributes to the achievement of optimum health, satisfaction and cost-effective care by addressing the behavioral, social and environmental issues which may impede care.

Minimum Qualifications:

MSW from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE); M.S.W., L.M.S.W., L.C.S.W. or eligible, 3 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required. New M.S.W. graduates who are L.M.S.W. eligible will be considered for appointment to entry level (SL2) position at a commensurate salary after obtaining a Limited Permit. Incumbent must obtain L.M.S.W. within 12 months of receipt of limited permit.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post Master's experience in a Health Care setting.

Work Days:

Days, Evenings, Nights with rotating weekends and occasional on-call/holiday coverage on rotation based on operational needs
