Job Summary:
Duties include, but are not limited to: equipment decontamination, setup and operational verification for equipment to be issued; oversees collection, processing, delivery of equipment to patient areas accurately and promptly; performs minor repairs to equipment and refers major repairs to Clinical Engineering; assists Supply Assistants in prioritizing work based on incoming requests; may be required to call in additional staff or hold over staff as needed; checks staff assignments for completion at various times during shift and completes written and verbal shift reports; answers the telephones and greets visitors/customers; checks calls and call data base for completeness; reports equipment unavailability to units and to department staff via OnDemand Order updates; trains and orients new staff as assigned; performs data entry and looks up information via computer system. Candidates with one year of experience cleaning medical equipment are preferred including issuing equipment, picking up soiled equipment, decontamination of equipment, function verification and setup for reissue. Knowledge of the use of personal protection equipment, proper cleaning techniques, and basic computer skills (information lookup, data entry) are also preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a nationally accredited central service technician exam AND current certification administered by a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization as a registered central service technician, sterile processing and distribution technician, or possession of a substantially equivalent credential.
OR
Evidence of employment as a Central Service Technician in a Healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2015.
OR
Examination and certification as described above within eighteen months of hire.
Work Days:
Schedule is based on a 40-hour work week. 3:00pm-11:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays
