Job Summary: The Student Clinical Assistant (SCA) program provides opportunities for nursing students to enhance their clinical experience in the region's only academic medical center and Level-One trauma center. SCAs work in a variety of inpatient settings including Cardiovascular, Critical Care, Hematology/ Oncology, Medicine, Neurosciences, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Labor and Delivery, and Surgery units. SCAs should be prepared to work both day and evenings shifts on a rotating/as needed basis, and should be prepared to work 29 hours per week. The SCA I will provide basic patient care including patient watch, transportation, stocking the unit, and answering call lights. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the hospital setting. The SCA II will provide direct patient care including bathing, positioning, ambulating, and will have responsibility for phlebotomy tasks and EKGs Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in an accredited RN Program with current CPR certification. Students in an associates or bachelors program who have not had clinical experience working in a patient care setting will be considered for appointment to an SCA I role. Students who have 3 months of previous patient care experience, or have 2 rotations of clinical experience in their nursing program will be considered for appt to an SCA II

Salary Range/Pay Rate:

SCA 1 - $14.50/hr.  SCA 2 - $16.00/hr
