Job Summary:
Cluster of tenure-track faculty positions for investigators conducting original research in the field of Neuro-Oncology (up to 3). Candidates must have a strong record of innovative research, impactful publications, extramural funding aligned with their career stage, and a clear vision for long-term growth of their research program. All areas of neuro-oncology research will be considered including adult/pediatric, brain, skull base, or brain-metastatic cancers. Successful candidates will join a community of oncology, cell biology, and neuroscience investigators with strengths in genomics, cytoskeleton, neural environment, biomechanics, and molecular/cellular cancer biology. Candidates are expected to develop a research program that will combine strengths from multiple topic areas to attract further talent and continued funding support. Their research program will be supported by our state-of-the art core facilities for genomics, proteomics, advanced microscopy, or our tumor biobank that includes a unique collection of brain cancer specimens. An organoids core is under development.
These positions are supported by the SUNY Empire Innovation Program. Candidates will carry the titles of Associate or full Professor (rank dependent upon qualifications) and Empire Innovation Scholar. They will have faculty appointments in the departments of Neuroscience & Physiology and Neurosurgery, and further affiliation with the SUNY Upstate Cancer Center. Additional appointment(s) are possible to reflect the candidate’s research program.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in a related discipline/specialty, with a strong record of publications, funding, and career recognition in the study of brain cancers. Demonstrated ability to generate innovative ideas and identify promising research trends and funding opportunities. Full/Associate Professor and Assistant Professors eligible for promotion to the Associate Professor rank are encouraged to apply.
