Job Summary:

SUNY Upstate Foundation is in search of a highly motivated Development Director to join the Upstate Foundation Development Team, fundraising for Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in partnership with Children's Miracle Network

This role works to increase retail/corporate giving, including specific and measurable targets regarding fundraising goals, prospect management, personal contacts, stewardship activities, and solicitations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned retail/corporate prospects, works with corporate CEOs, store managers, community liaisons and employees to coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Ensure appropriate brand messaging, and generate support of employees. 
  • Work with retail representatives from Children's Miracle Network to implement National Partner Programs. 
  • Applies for grants from Corporate Foundations as necessary. 
  • Screens third party fundraisers and provides advice and assistance to third party events. 
  • Facilitates a culture conducive to increased private giving, including a positive representation of the Foundation with Upstate personnel, donors, prospects, and community organizations. 
  • Oversee signature Children's Miracle Network Programs (Radiothon for Kids and Direct Mail) and Miracle Family Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree and 2 years of relevant Development or Retail/Business experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills required. 

Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle to travel within NY State is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven record of success in the solicitation of gifts and working with volunteers preferred.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, 8:30-4:30.  Some Evenings and Weekends.
