Job Summary:

SUNY Upstate Medical is in search of a skilled and highly motivated Anesthesia Technician to join the Hospital Anesthesiology Team at the Downtown University Hospital assisting the Anesthesia Specialists, the higher level technician in all locations that general anesthesia is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning, set-up, room turnover, and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines and physiological monitoring equipment.

Provide support with technical functions by assisting with airway management, placement of invasive lines, urgent/emergency procedures.

Expectation of taking emergency on call and providing weekend coverage.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and understanding of aseptic technique and sterile technique, good communication skills required.

Must have previous experience as an anesthesia technician or health care equivalent.

AHA CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.  

EMT/Advanced EMT may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as an anesthesia technologist/ technician and knowledge of airway management preferred.

Operating room protocol experience strongly preferred.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday Days/Evenings, Weekend rotation with on-call responsibilities.
