Job Summary:
The Assistant Vice President of Facilities and Planning will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight to integrate master capital and facilities planning, design and construction services, physical plant management and engineering services of the University and its clinical campuses. This role will be integral in leading the efforts to implement the facilities master plan. This position reports to both the University Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration for campus needs and the Hospital COO for clinical needs and will work in collaboration with colleagues across the enterprise.
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all operational functions, while establishing effective quality initiatives and achieving financial objectives. The role requires consistent discretion and independent judgment in areas such as staff selection and management, budget development and oversight, setting quality standards, evaluating customer feedback, and ensuring departmental compliance with regulations from various governing agencies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilities master planning
- Physical plant management across both campuses
- Capital project planning and construction
The incumbent ensures that the University’s strategic goals are supported through adequate physical infrastructure, comprehensive capital and hospital planning, and effective construction design and execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Business Management or closely related field. Seven years of relevant experience in a supervisory/leadership role and involvement in complex capital projects required. Experience in hospital regulatory and accreditation requirement required. Experience in an academic and research environment required. Ability to successfully work across department lines with key stakeholders, contractors and other state entities. Excellent written/oral communication and project management skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the facilities and physical plant requirements of a large, diverse, multipurpose public institution.

Master's degree preferred.
