Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Medical Staff Services, the Associate Director provides strategic and operational oversight of the Medical Staff onboarding process and assists in supporting the activities of the organized medical staff, including its committees. This role encompasses administrative and medico-legal responsibilities related to medical staff governance and serves as a liaison between senior hospital leadership and the medical staff to foster effective communication and collaboration.

The Associate Director assists in ensuring medical staff compliance with all applicable accreditation and regulatory standards, including those set forth by DNV NIAHO, NCQA, CMS, the New York State Department of Health, and internal hospital and departmental policies. Responsibilities include administrative support for clinical competency evaluations, regulatory documentation, and medical staff functions. The Associate Director attends medical staff meetings as assigned, responds to complex inquiries, and collaborates with other departments to support institutional goals and maintain regulatory readiness.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with at least five years of experience in medical staff services or a closely related healthcare field or Associate's degree with at least seven years of experience in medical staff services or closely related healthcare field required.

Certification required in at least one of the NAMSS accreditations below:
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
- Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
- Certified Provider Enrollment Specialist (CPES)

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree a plus. Familiarity with NCQA Credentialing and Recredentialing (CR) accreditation standards and regulatory requirements preferred. Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, gain consensus, and effectively resolve conflicts among diverse stakeholders. Working knowledge of key concepts and terminology related to legal affairs, information technology, clinical competence evaluation, performance improvement, risk management, and human resources. Ability to identify patterns and relationships among complex issues, recognize trends, and assess potential cause-and-effect dynamics. Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate confidently, clearly, and with enthusiasm in both individual and group settings. Proficiency in organizing and analyzing data to identify trends, compare variables, and explain underlying issues or contributing factors. Experience with Applied Systems and Management (ASM) MD-Staff credentialing software suite preferred.
