Job Summary:

Primary duties involve review of coding work queues to resolve issues and questions; specialty coding for procedures; may perform department specific coding audits.                                                                            

Review charges in work queues, respond to questions, correct codes, and push charges out as appropriate. Research and report issues as needed.

Research charge, diagnosis and insurance information to ensure accuracy within billing practice guidelines.

Complete all requests for review in a timely manner.

Review departmental/division coding, notify providers of results.

Perform specific coding duties for some departments, as assigned. May be surgical or E/M coding.

May help out in other departments with charge posting, no-bill report or other duties as assigned.

Cooperate and maintain an open forum of communication with co-workers, clients,    outside business representatives and Supervisor.       

Respond to any calls and emails from billing staff seeking clarification or assistance with ICD-10 coding, billing or compliance issues.

Attend provider meetings as requested.

Maintain current knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 coding conventions and general coding updates. Share information regarding updates with affected parties in a timely manner.

Performs other duties as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School education or equivalent. Must be able to work independently with speed and accuracy.  Must be sensitive to confidential information.  Must maintain professional and courteous contact with providers, insurance carriers and co-workers.

Preferred Qualifications:

 E/M experience preferred

Work Days:

Monday - Friday daytime hours
