Job Summary:
This position will support editorial activities for Peer-Reviewed Reports in Medical Education (PRiMER), a journal sponsored by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. The The Editor-in-Chief of PRiMER is located in the Department of Family Medicine at Upstate. Duties will include assistance with the check-in of manuscripts, including initial quality review; quality review of accepted manuscripts; participation in editorial team meetings once per month (as available); assistance with peer review processes, as appropriate; other activities and writing, according to the interests and skills of the intern.

Applicants should meet the following requirements, and should:
- be a Student at Upstate Medical University
- have interests in scholarly publishing, medical education, and/or primary care research
- be a strong writer
- have some background or knowledge of medical education, social sciences, or public health

Additionally, a preferred qualification is for the applicant to have some experience with or knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.

The position is expected to be largely remote and scheduled flexibly, with occasional in-person meetings as necessary. It may be possible to establish a workspace for this position in the Department of Family Medicine suite if necessary.

If the student wishes to use some of the work towards elective or practicum educational credit, that can be discussed.
 
Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.

Salary Range/Pay Rate:

$17/hour
