Job Summary:
  • Prepare ahead for all new patient, on-treatment and follow-up appointments to include review of chart for updates;
  • request any needed images and reports;
  • anticipate any test that each respective physician may require before seeing patient;
  • Ensure all pertinent test results and reports are obtained prior to scheduled appointment;
  • Complete physician orders such as, skin care or dressing changes, laryngoscopy, O2 administration, prescriptions;
  • coordinate all prescribed diagnostic testing and monitor results including reporting to physician;
  • this will include CT/Sim appointments, radiology appointments and other appointments as directed by the physician;
  • Assist with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments when appropriate;
  • Room and interview new patients including medical history and recent history related to diagnosis;
  • provide patient written and verbal teaching and information about diagnosis, radiation therapy, side effects and other pertinent information;
  • Provide daily direct care to patients;
  • medication reconciliation;
  • PRN nursing assessment for changes in status to include vital signs;
  • teaching on nutrition and maintaining weight;
  • promptly report changes that impact patient status or care to the physician;
  • Assess psychological and emotional needs and provide support through active listening and referral to appropriate agencies and/or departments as directed by physicians;
  • Provide education material and communicate physician advice and instructions to patient
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered LPN with a minimum of one year nursing experience. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in an outpatient setting (specialty area) strongly preferred.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
