Job Summary:
The Manager of Communications and Community Engagement (CCE) is responsible for leading the improvement and development of a range of communication channels for SUNY CPD Programs, activities, and communities of practice.
Identifies strategies to build SUNY engagement with the SUNY CPD, communities of practice, and increase capacity among campus and system organizations and individuals to advance the mission of the Center for Professional Development and SUNY.
The Manager of Communications and Community Engagement works with the CPD Team and well as CPD stakeholders to ensure timely and consistent communication and engagement with the target audiences. This role will identify and manage SUNY CPD communications and community platforms, ensuring our channels are fully embedded into daily working life and providing an effective two-way flow of information with stakeholder groups.
The Manager of CCE also works with SUNY CPD and SUNY System initiatives leading community efforts to support their work and to create awareness of community building opportunities they can leverage to advance SUNY priorities within the System. The Manger of CCE supports campus constituents in their utilization of the SUNY Learning Commons (currently powered via Viva Engage Yammer) to facilitate cross-campus and multi-disciplinary collaboration, share best practices within a community of practice and operate collaborative tools that allow learners and educators to work together actively at a distance.
The Manager of CCE will have responsibility for developing communications strategies to engage internal communities of practice, promoting the adoption of sharing and social collaboration as a CPD strategy for facilitating professional development.
A successful manger will be creative, engaging, agile, insightful, innovative, and collaborative, in their responsibilities for supporting and creating public relations and promotion efforts, that engage and promote the mission of SUNY CPD in advancing the capabilities of SUNY faculty/staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution in an appropriate field.
Two (2) years of relevant experience, including one year of managing communications.
Experience with the design of both print and online materials.
Familiarity with a range of virtual collaboration tools and platforms that support communication and collaboration.
Experience with creating content and managing social media presence.
Excellent organization, quantitative and oral and written communication skills
Ability to forge collaborative relationships, work effectively in a team environment, and interact with staff and leadership at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects, and respond to competing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
Experience working with and leading online communities in a professional development context.
Experience in the review and selection of online communication platforms.
Experience creating and supporting websites and blog sites.
Knowledge of the SUNY System and experience working with campus staff.
Knowledge of SUNY University-wide programs and services.
