Job Summary:
Physician Assistants are licensed health care professionals that practice medicine with the supervision of a licensed physician. Consistent with New York state law physician assistants evaluate, diagnose, formulate and implement treatment plans, educate and counsel patients and families, prescribe, assist with surgical procedures and perform other responsibilities within the scope of practice of and as delegated by the supervising physician. Physician Assistants are committed members of the multi disciplinary health care team that maintain professional competencies
while providing high quality, cost effective, patient centered care consistent with the mission, vision and values of Upstate Medical University.
This is a clinic based position, there is no requirement for surgical first assistant.
No shift work, No weekends and No on call responsibilities.

1. Tuition for AANS Advanced Practitioner course
2. One conference per year in a related field to included registration, lodging, meals and transportation, virtual conference also qualifies for reimbursement.
3. To be eligible for reimbursement for any CMEs they must be related to neurosurgery, neurology, neurosciences or related to the patient population you treat.
4. Lab coats with the practice logo.
5. $300.00 Uniform allowance for articles of clothing with the practice logo.
6. All required licenses and registration fees.
7. Laptop with remote access, Mac or PC.
8. Parking reimbursement.
9. Cell phone allowance of $50.00 per month.
10. Any necessary reference books.

Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered PA required.
Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire
(eligibility criteria for PA requires graduation from an accredited PA program and National Certification through NCCPA).
Initial certification must be present or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous neurosurgery clinical PA experience preferred. Prior experience in specialty area preferred.

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The salary range depicted is based on full time, 1.0 FTE and would be prorated accordingly for less than 1.0 FTE.
