Job Summary:
The Senior Research Support Specialist will work closely with PI and other lab members to develop strategies and provide expert support to research projects in the lab, with the overarching goal of investigating pathologic biomechanical strains and tissue stiffening in glaucoma. Must demonstrate ability to review, summarize, and integrate data sets across multiple experimental paradigms, manage preparation and presentation of data for PI and other lab members, provide strategic advice to PI including evaluation of conclusions and potential impact. Will be an integral member of the team, working closely with PI on grant applications to extramural funding agencies, and mentoring junior members of the team by providing scientific input and leading by example. Will have the opportunity to interact with our large active group of Center for Vision Research faculty, scientists, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, and technicians. Must demonstrate ability to perform or ability to learn: primary retinal neuronal culture, fundamentals of in vitro and in vivo work with small rodents, genotyping and colony maintenance, retinal and brain tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry/in situ hybridization, basic biochemistry techniques including immunoblotting, qPCR, immunoprecipitation, transfection, imaging analyses including digital light microscopy, small rodent optical coherence tomography, and fluorescein angiography.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in biological sciences. At least 3 years of related experiance.
Work Days:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 - 5:00; Depending on when experiments need to be performed employee may be required to work different times/days
