Job Summary:
- Provide support to and meet regularly with the Department Chairman and graduate medical education program directors to discuss issues, activities, projects related to the residency and fellowship training programs
- Assist in program-level policy development
- Understand the ACGME program requirements for orthopedic, hand and spine surgery
- Provide ongoing evaluation of the orthopedic surgery residency and fellowship programs to assess compliance with the ACGME program requirements
- Work with the program directors to identify and implement solutions to identified areas of non-compliance
- Coordinate resident-related research/education activities with co-directors of resident research program
- Provide both administrative and supervisory support to residents/interns/fellows
- Track resident progress on research project(s)
- Assist residents with abstract, manuscript, and resident research grant (OREF) preparation
- Maintain a database of resident/fellow and faculty data including all innovations, published abstract, peer reviewed manuscripts, and presentations
- Work with Chairman and program directors to develop a curriculum for education conferences
- Work with conference presenters to gather reading assignments for conferences and make them available to the residents in advance of conferences
- Organize and regularly update a list of required readings
- Maintain an organized file of power point lecture presentations used for education conferences
- Work with program directors and faculty to update the residency program manuals
- Work with the program coordinator to assist with the scheduling and operation of the residency interviews
- Develop education programs for residents as teachers
- Develop education programs for faculty as teachers
- Work with the residency program director and other faculty members to develop and update, as needed, a residency surgical skills education program
- Oversee the resident surgical skills education program
- Assists in monitoring residents duty hours and operative/case experience via a regular review of data reports
- Work with the program coordinator in the preparation for ACGME site visits and internal reviews
- Prepare/distribute materials for conferences and lectures
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chairman and/or Program Directors
- Maintain annual evaluations, faculty activity reports, academic expectations, and curriculum vitae for faculty
- Assist in compiling promotion and tenure packages for faculty.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field and 4 years related experience. May require additional certification(s), depending on the specific program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters preferred with a focus on education or administration. Candidates should have experience in education administration along with curriculum and education program development. Must possess strong communication (verbal and written), technical, organization, problem solving and decision making skills.
Work Days:
Generally M-F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm some evenings and weekends required

L3: $65,558 - $104,893

The salary range depicted is based on full time, 1.0 FTE and would be prorated accordingly for less than 1.0 FTE.
