1.           Review charges in work queues, respond to questions, correct codes, and push charges out as appropriate. Research and report issues as needed.

2.           Research charge, diagnosis and insurance information to ensure accuracy within billing practice guidelines.

3.           Complete all requests for review in a timely manner.  Document rationale and respond in a clear and concise manner in order to educate staff.

4.           Review medical records for Compliance audits, focused reviews and special projects as assigned. Complete information required in Intelicode system, notify Providers of results, and invoice Business Manager per contracts.

5.           Perform specific coding duties for some procedures as assigned.

6.           Cooperate and maintain an open forum of communication with co-workers, clients,     outside business representatives and Supervisor. 

7.           Respond to any calls and emails from providers seeking clarification or assistance with coding, billing or compliance issues.

8.           Attend provider meetings as requested. Presentations to new providers, as assigned.

9.           Advise Supervisor of issues or patterns in denial reviews.

10.        Maintain current knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 coding conventions and general coding updates. Share information regarding updates with affected parties in a timely manner.

11.        Performs other duties as assigned/requested.

Education (including license, registration, and/or certification if applicable):

Associate’s degree preferred.  RHIT, CPC or CPC-A required.

Experience:                    

Two years of outpatient or physician coding experience required. Coursework in medical terminology and Anatomy and Physiology preferred.

Auditing experience, E/M experience preferred.
