Job Summary:
Responsible for the processing of incoming and outgoing mail and making deliveries inside and outside of the hospital. Duties include but are not limited to: As a working supervisor, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mail Room, and will handle mail and supplies. Will monitor receipt, control and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail to all areas of Upstate Medical University and US Post Office. Assign work duties; process job announcements, interview and select new hires; supervise, train and evaluate staff; resolve problems/issues; maintain equipment; and develop policy and procedures to outline the proper protocol for mail handling. Will need to be knowledgeable of policies and procedures and be able to use independent judgment to ensure compliance of rules and regulations. Will be required to work independently. Must be able to bend, stretch, lift heavy loads of mail and stand for long period of time. Must be able to pull/push a full mail cart weighing approximately 50 lbs. Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications:
New York State Department of Civil Service Eligible List or eligible for transfer.

Open competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:
One year of clerical experience where majority of work time is spent performing activities related to mail recipient, mail distribution, storage and stores keeping.
Work Days:
Schedule is based on a 37.5 hour work week. Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm.
