Job Summary:
In this position, the social worker is assigned to provide coverage in the Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Unit at Upstate University Hospital downtown campus. The unit serves adults aged 18 years and older who require short-term, acute inpatient mental health care. The social worker provides comprehensive psycho-social assessment, intervention, management, support, and assess for discharge planning and aftercare needs of the at-risk patient population and their families. In addition, the social worker addresses social determinants of health and works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. Other assigned duties and tasks based upon operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
L.M.S.W., L.C.S.W. or eligible, 3 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required. New M.S.W. graduates who are L.M.S.W. eligible will be considered for appointment to entry level (SL2) position at a commensurate salary after obtaining a Limited Permit. Incumbent must obtain L.M.S.W. within 12 months of receipt of limited permit.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous knowledge and experience with the psychiatric population, suicide interventions, and OMH regulations.
Work Days:
Monday-Friday 8:30 am -5:00 pm with occasional on-call/holiday coverage on rotation based on operational needs
