Job Summary: 

Schedule based on 40 hour work week. Trades Specialist will report to the Maintenance Supervisor 1.  Exercise safety precautions using tools and machinery. Knowledge of asbestos procedures and location of MSDS sheets. Use personal protection equipment. Understand and carry out written and verbal instructions. Install mortise and cylindrical locks in doors and cabinets according to manufacturer's recommendations. Disassemble, inspect and repair locks and cylinders. Use locksmith picking tools to open lock with missing key. Match and cut keys with precision and attention to detail. Maintain database/record of key numbers, lock combinations and pin changes. Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the trade. Demonstrate mathematical skills needed to determine key changes, changes in lock combinations and the setting of various master keys. Read, interpret and work from plans, diagrams and specifications. Estimate labor and material requirements of work. Good organizational skills. Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

four years of full-time experience in locksmithing under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in locksmithing at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services
