Job Summary:

This is a temporary, 6-month training program in collaboration with NYS OASAS and Crouse Addiction Treatment Services.

Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor, Social Worker, or Licensed Mental Health Counselor within the SUNY Upstate Medical University/Crouse Health Interdisciplinary-Interprofessional Addiction Fellowship, a 6-month program aimed to prepare healthcare professionals from various medical and mental health specialties for academic and clinical careers in Addiction Treatment. The clinical rotations and academic activities will aim to help fellows develop skills and expertise in the areas of Advocacy, Mentoring and Education, Recovery/Wellness Support, and Ethical Responsibility. 

Our educational purpose is to train fellows in the fundamentals of addiction treatment including:

(1) assessment of Substance Use Disorders (SUDs)

(2) development of treatment plans

(3) individual and group counseling.

Fellows will learn how to assess and diagnose substance use disorders (SUDs).

Fellows will learn the basics of inpatient and outpatient substance use disorder treatment modalities and services, focusing on the continuum of care for SUDs, including utilization of community services.

Fellows will learn about various treatment (CBT, MI, DBT, and etc.). At the end of the Interdisciplinary Addiction Fellowship, the fellow will be able to function independently as an Addiction Counselor/Therapist in an SUD treatment setting.

Fellows will be able to work towards CASAC-T certification with expectation to fulfill requirements of CASAC-T
certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, education or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant field preferred. Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form with persons of varying educational and cultural backgrounds. Competency in appropriate computer software applications.

L2: $24.04 - $26.44
