Job Summary:

The Patient Access Scheduler/Registrar-HPSC 2 is responsible for performing patient scheduling duties and coordinating new patient referrals. Responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and completing patient pre-registration by entering and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information. Ensures all required medical records, laboratory results, imaging, and treatment documentation are obtained prior to scheduled visits. Will obtain referrals, physician orders, STAT authorizations, scan necessary documents, respond to ROI requests and ensure safe handling of patient records and information. Must be able to communicate effectively to transfer information, have strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program. During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Hospital Patient Services Clerk 2 title.

For consideration for this title, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:

NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible list or eligible for transfer

Or

Promotional:

You must be a qualified employee of the State University of New York and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or as a Nursing Station Clerk 1

Or

Open Competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:

Two years of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting

Work Days:

Schedule based on a 40 hour work week. Monday - Friday, day shift, between the hours of 7:15am - 5:30pm.
