Job Summary:

The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through Education, Biomedical Research, and Health Care.  Beyond our downtown campus, we provide care through our clinics and offices across the greater Syracuse area.

In support of our ongoing growth, we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Neurocritical Care Advanced Practice Provider who will serve in a full time role to primarily provide care to patients on the Neuro ICU Service. The APP will provide Inpatient coverage at Upstate Downtown Campus. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert level clinical care and coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care assessing.
  • Evaluate patients, order appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies, arrange for referrals, testing, consultation and therapeutic services.
  • Maintain outstanding relationships with families, referring physicians and all members of the health care team.

As an APP, you will be an integral member of the Upstate healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.

** New Graduates or early-career Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants encouraged to apply and will be considered to undergo a Critical Care Fellowship as part of orientation to position.**

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
  • Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice. 
  • Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
  • CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Critical Care and Neurology experience preferred.

Work Days:

Full-time, Days, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays, 12-Hour Shifts
